Ongoing Leadership Opportunities 

Silicon Valley Clean Energy logo

With the Student Sponsorships, Silicon Valley Clean Energy is providing funding to elementary, middle, high school and community college student-led projects that support our communities’ goal of fighting climate change by reducing the use of fossil fuels.

Projects supported by the Student Sponsorships address the SVCE mission to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and expand education and outreach. Projects can range from art installations and student-led events to videos, journalism projects, student competitions, robotics and more. Previous projects included a podcast, art competition, short film, leadership training, climate education for youth, building a prototype electric vehicle and more!

 

Project Funding:

  • Grant funding can be used for resources materials, supplies, equipment, transportation, technology and other SVCE approved costs

  • Up to $10,000 for project funding

  • Teams must submit all receipts and accounting of money spent from the SVCE funding

 

Students attending schools in Campbell, Cupertino, Gilroy, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Los Gatos, Milpitas, Monte Sereno, Morgan Hill, Mountain View, Saratoga, Sunnyvale and unincorporated Santa Clara County communities are eligible to apply. We are now accepting applications for the 2025 application cycle.

Our internships connect talented high school juniors and seniors with exciting sustainability and energy projects. As an intern, you’ll develop professional skills, learn from new career mentors, and support real-world projects that are making a difference in local communities.

 

If selected as an intern, you will earn community service credits, develop professional skills, and work to change the energy landscape. 

 

About the internship opportunity:

  • Interns will be responsible for completing four milestones with subtasks that equal 150 total service hours. The internship takes place over 10 weeks of service.

  • Unpaid, but interns will receive a stipend once all requirements are completed.

  • FULLY virtual

  • Learn about careers in energy services and other pathways at The Energy Coalition.

  • Earn community service credits, learn about career pathways and the energy and sustainability industry, and improve your skills.

Applications close February 14th, 2025, at 4 pm.

We believe that changing the future of conservation begins with small steps: with great ideas that drive impact in YOUR community. We believe that together, our ideas and actions will add up to progress protecting our planet and improving our future.

We invite 13–18-year-olds to rise to the challenge, and to submit a 1-minute video describing their idea for solving environmental issues for a chance to receive up to $10,000 in funding.

Join Our Youth Food Recycling & Sustainability Program!

Interested in learning how to reduce food waste and make a positive impact on the environment and your community? Our 7-session program, which will be once a month will start off at the Vietnamese American Service Center and will take you on a journey through the food cycle, from farms to your kitchen, and explore the role you can play in food recycling, composting, and recovery. You'll participate in interactive activities, cooking workshops, farm tours, and even prepare a meal for the unhoused using donated food. Together, we’ll discover how small changes can create a sustainable future.

 

This is a youth program for ages: 13 - 25 years old and will be held in ENGLISH.

*This is also a great opportunity to gain volunteer hours!*

Volunteer Opportunities

We offer hands-on ways to learn about the natural world while making a positive impact. Volunteer with us to improve local ecosystems, or join a naturalist or community science event to explore nature in open spaces and urban places. We offer opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds, everyone is welcome.

With the launch of the new planting season, we have many opportunities for you to help steward and learn about your local urban forest. Please use our new volunteer sign-up form to register for specific volunteer events (see above) or express interest in general volunteer opportunities!

Join us at our Mountain View Tree Care Day to learn and practice basic tree care, such as watering, mulching, and pruning!

Keep Coyote Creek Beautiful works with community groups, public agencies, and students to restore Coyote Creek through cleanups, plantings, recreational and cultural activities, and educational partnerships.

Join Keep Coyote Creek Beautiful and partners in cataloging and documenting all of the wildlife that reside there. We will have experts in various fields to help guide participants through all the cool plants and wildlife.

 

The best part? All you need to participate is a smart phone with the iNaturalist app! So bring your family and prepare for an in-depth tour of this great park.

Santa Clara Valley Audobon Society Event Calendar

The Santa Clara Valley Audubon Society (SCVAS) was founded in 1925, and with over 1,000 members, is one of the largest National Audubon Society chapters in California. Our programs and conservation activities are supported by our generous members and donors.

The Event Calendar shows all Field Trips, Classes and Special Events hosted by SCVAS, including our Speaker Series, Bay Area Bird Photographers (BABP) and the Eve Case Bird Discussion Group.
